PERU (HEART OF ILLINOIS ABC) - Jelani Day has been missing for two weeks.

He was last seen in Bloomington on Aug 24. two days later his care was found in a wooded area south of the Illinois Valley YMCA in LaSalle County.

Investigators started a search for Day near the Illinois River. Many came out to help with the search, including Michelle Thomaston.

"I'm out here to find Jelani Day by any means necessary," Thomaston said. She owned a media company called The Almighty Club.

Thomaston and her two daughters drove five hours from their home use their company equipment to help the search.

"It just really hit home I have a three-year-old son myself," Thomaston said. "If anything ever went wrong with them or they became missing I would want the community help."

Thomaston said she knew there was a body found on Saturday during a search for Day, but like law enforcement, she said she would not stop looking for Day until there was a positive ID.

"We don't know the identity of that body that was found up in LaSalle county until we're able to get some positive identification out of that we're going focus on two separate investigations," Bloomington Interim-Police Chief Chad Wamsley said.
