Businesses on Fisherman's Wharf spent all day Saturday catering to a busy crowd for Valentine's Day weekend after a decline in customers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Restaurants, gift and candy shops were filled with crowds, something workers say they hope will continue.
“Hopefully we have a lot of people and we continue on with this beautiful weather," says Rick Beidoun, Owner of Crab Louie's Bistro.
One gift shop worker says many of the shops spent all week spreading the word about specials and treats to bring in as many customers as possible given the past shut downs.
“It was a big shock, when we first started with the COVID it was hella empty, people were scared to come out," says Maria Rodriguez, manager of Ocean Front.
The business owners say they were happy to see all the smiling people and some even revamped their menus to offer a special Valentines Day touch.
“Every customer gets fresh strawberries with chocolate and a glass of champagne," says Beidoun.
Most restaurants are offering specials and even curbside pickup.
