FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies suspended the search for an 18-year-old who fell off a jet ski in Palm Coast Wednesday, the search will resume on Thursday.

Deputies said the Florida Fish and Wildlife will remain on patrol Wednesday night.

Richie Volmar was last seen when he fell from his vessel around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday near Bing’s Landing Park. He is currently missing in the Intracoastal Waterway.

Deputies are asking people to avoid the area.

The search on Wednesday involved helicopters, dive teams and crews using sonar.

“My emotions are all over the place. I don’t know what to feel,” Volmar’s mother Rosechelly Medina said.

Medina said her son hit a wave and fell off of a jet ski she just purchased two days ago as he was riding on it with a friend.

“When they hit the wave they flipped and when they flipped they both flew off and he was screaming for help,” Medina said.

Dyson Richardson was the last person to see Volmar.

“I had the life jacket on and he didn’t so I tried to swim to the jet ski to get on board,” Richardson said.

Richardson said by the time he got to the jet ski Volmar was gone.

Crews said the water is roughly 15 feet deep and the FWC also searched the surrounding shore.
