The search for a fisherman who went missing Monday off Cape Sable Island has been called off.
The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre (JRCC) in Halifax received a mayday at 8:21 a.m. from a 39-foot fishing vessel about 10 kilometres southeast of Cape Sable.
With regret, at 12:00 AST today, JRCC Hfx suspended the search for the missing fisherman who was lost overboard south of Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia on December 26.

According to the Atlantic Canada Fishermen's Association, a crewman from the Little Weasel was caught in gear and dragged overboard.When the gear was hauled back in, he was no longer there.
In a tweet Tuesday, the JRCC said the RCMP will take over the incident as a missing person case.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends during this difficult time,” the centre said.
On Monday the CCGS Clarks Harbour, CCGS Cape Roger, Cormorant rescue helicopter, a Canadian Forces Hercules and a fleet of local fishing vessels searched for the man amid 25-knot winds and four-metre seas.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends during this difficult time,” the centre said.
