CONTRA COSTA COUNTY — Investigators with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office continued to search Saturday for a boater who went missing in the Delta on Saturday night.
The sheriff’s Marine Patrol Unit was dispatched about 8:25 p.m. on Friday after the man had reportedly gone into the water at Indian Slough in Discovery Bay.
It is not known how the boater ended up in the water. Investigators described him as 29 years old. His name has not been released.
Occupants on the boat immediately searched for the man, but said he never resurfaced, according to the sheriff’s office Facebook page.
Marine patrol deputies searched the water while deputies checked the levee shoreline. A sonar search was also carried out, plus a helicopter did an aerial search.
The investigation and search were continuing as of Saturday afternoon.
