MONTEREY PARK — Police arrested a Monterey Park shooting suspect Saturday during a perimeter search.
The shooting happened about 3:35 p.m. in the 300 block of South Garfield Avenue, Monterey Park police Lt. Paul Villalobos said.
“Officers responded to the scene after a shots-fired call was made,” Villalobos said. “They found one man who suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen.”
He was transported to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. Information on his condition was not immediately available.
Monterey Park police set up a perimeter with the help of Alhambra and Montebello police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Within the perimeter, they found and arrested a suspect.
Villalobos said the suspect, whose identity was withheld, was being interrogated late Saturday.
A motive for the shooting was not immediately released.
