A team of firefighters on Saturday worked to recover a body from a lake at a Littleton park, law enforcement said.

Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office started searching the lake at Blue Heron Park about 7 a.m. Saturday, spokesman Mike Taplin said. The search was part of an ongoing effort to find a man who walked away from a nearby care facility for people with brain injuries and disappeared. Graham Hebert, 30, left the facility on Jan. 1 and has not been seen since.

“The people who worked at the residence and his family told us that he frequents this area,” Taplin said of the park.

Searchers used drones later Saturday morning and saw what they believe is a body, Taplin said. A team of divers from West Metro Fire Rescue tried to recover the body from the lake but had not yet done so as of 5 p.m. Saturday. The divers will try again on Sunday if they need to, Taplin said.

The coroner will attempt to identify the body when it is recovered, Taplin said. But that process could take weeks if the body has been in the water for an extended period of time, he said.
