TAMPA — A man who robbed and then shot another man in Ybor City early Saturday is now being sought by police. There may also have been a second shooting in Ybor City hours earlier.

In the most serious incident, officers responded about 3:20 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of N 20th Street, between Adamo Drive and E Second Avenue, according to Tampa police. Officers learned a man who had been shot was taken to a hospital in a personal vehicle.

Detectives believe an armed man robbed the victim, shot him and left the area. The wounded man remained in the hospital Saturday and was listed in stable condition, police said. His name was not released by police.

Police said they’re looking for a suspect described as a black man in his mid-twenties, about 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds. He had shoulder-length dreadlocks and was dressed in all-black clothing.

Detectives are also looking for the occupants of a gray sedan who were in the area at the time of the robbery and may have information that could help the investigation.

Police are also investigating another possible shooting incident on E Seventh Avenue that sent people running about 90 minutes before the 3:20 a.m. robbery.

This incident took place about 2 a.m., when what sounded like gunshots rang out in the area of E Seventh Avenue and N 19th Street, said Tampa police spokesman Eddy Durkin.

Videos posted to social media show people running after what appear to be gunshots were heard. No one was reported to have been wounded by gunfire in this incident, but Durkin said a woman who fell suffered a laceration on her head.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video to learn more about that incident, Durkin said.

“We have not determined the incidents are related; however, as it is early in both investigations nothing has been ruled out at this point,” Durkin said in an email.

Tampa police ask anyone with information about these incidents to call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-8477.
