Search for missing fisherman at Lake Monona to resume Sunday - WMTV – NBC15

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The search for a missing fisherman who went overboard into Lake Monona will resume on Sunday morning after severe weather forced rescue crews to end their efforts for the day.

According to the Dane Co. Sheriff’s Office, the search began around 1 p.m. when first responders first learned that the 74-year-old Milwaukee man went into the water. Members of the Sheriff’s Office dive team soon responded, as well, to assist.

The two men who were in the boat with him told authorities that the man was driving the 24′ Ranger Reata when it hit a swell and veered sharply. The other two individuals were able to make it back to shore safely.

The dive team has focused its efforts in the middle of the lake, off Winnequah Road, in Monona, the Sheriff’s Office continued. It asked that anyone else on the lake when search teams return Sunday give them plenty of room so they can continue safely.

This story is still developing. NBC15 News will update this story as more information becomes available.
