Anies Baswedan Confirms Food Court on D Islet Illegal - Tempo.co English

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said he had checked with his officials on the permit of a food court located on reclaimed island D and found the food court had operated sans a permit.

"They said there was no permit, [the food court] should have been handled," Anies Baswedan said at the Monas area on Monday, February 11.

Anies, however, stopped short of detailing the kind of measure his administration would take against the food court.

In mid-January, rumors were rife on the operation of multiple food joints on islet D, which is presently known as Maju Beach. Tempo has made an observation on the island and confirmed the rumors, witnessing residents flock to the food court.

The head of the Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Yani Wahyu Purwoko, said the agency would take immediate action against the food court upon official confirmation of the rumors.

"We will take action if they don't have a permit. I will ring the PTSP (Jakarta's one-stop integrated service agency) to find out," Yani said.
