A body was discovered in the Contoocook River on Saturday by a fly fisherman about 2 miles south of downtown Henniker.
Henniker Police were called to the scene at 6:50 p.m. along with Henniker Fire and Rescue and the Medical Examiner. The body was retrieved from the water and a preliminary examination was done on the scene, according to a press release authorized by Henniker Police Chief Matthew French.
The incident remains under investigation, but the police do not feel there is any risk to public safety stemming from the incident. More information will be made available after the autopsy is completed.
