The U.S. Coast Guard rescued 41-year-old fisherman with a serious hand injury from aboard a commercial fishing boat about 60 miles offshore of Nantucket Bay early Sunday morning.
The Coast Guard medevaced the injured fisherman around 3:30 a.m. after a watchstander received a notification from the crew of the commercial fishing vessel, “Furious.” The Stonigton, Connecticut – ported vessel said they needed help after a crewmember was injured.
A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched, and safely hoisted the fisherman at approximately 7 a.m.
He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital for care.
