Some tense moments Sunday afternoon as a man fishing near Slate Run could not be found for two hours.

Rescue crews were called shortly before 5 p.m. for a report of a lost fisherman in rural Brown Township. He was found at 6:20 p.m. unharmed.

The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Forestry and local fire departments met at the 3000 block of Slate Run Road at a parking area to begin the search.

The fisherman was wearing jeans and hip waders and the conditions at the time were spotty rain showers with temperature in the 50s.

His age was not available but was believed to be in his 40s. Volunteers from Brown Township, Black Forest, and Waterville and Jersey Shore area were among those looking for the man.

A K9 search team was headed up to the site to assist.

Rescuers tried to get a ping signal from the man’s cell phone.

Verizon officials said the last cell signal it could detect was off a tower in the Elysburg and Danville area.

A rescue boat with Waterville Fire Department was dispatched.

A woman reached at Hotel Manor and Bar, at 392 Slate Run Road, said was hoping for the best, as she noticed the rescue and emergency crews vehicles outside the hotel.
