Fisherman, 26, drowns in Kalamazoo River - MLive.com

ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI – A 26-year-old Hamilton-area man drowned in the Kalamazoo River while fishing, police said.

The victim’s body was recovered Thursday, Aug. 20, from the river near the Marshall Street Bridge in Allegan.

The victim’s name has not been released.

His family called police around 7:15 p.m. to report him missing. He was fishing alone and overdue.

His family found his vehicle and fishing tackle near the river. Police and firefighters searched the area before Allegan County divers went into the river and found the victim’s body in 10 feet of water.

Allegan police and firefighters, Allegan County sheriff’s deputies and state police troopers responded.
