Authorities continue to search for a woman kidnapped Tuesday from Liberty County by a gun-toting "acquaintance," according to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office.

Erika Rios Valdez, 32, was taken around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday while parking and unhooking a food service trailer on County Road 3404 in the Plum Grove area in north Liberty County. Abel Fajardo, identified by authorities as a 38-year-old acquaintance, drove up and forced her into his pickup at gunpoint, authorities said.

He fled the scene while Valdez's brother gave chase. The brother eventually lost sight of Fajardo's truck, described as a white 2005 GMC “duelie” pickup with an Illinois license plate, number 2816533B. The name “Duramax” can been seen in large white lettering across the rear window of the truck.

Authorities said Valdez is 5-foot 4-inches and approximately 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair with blond highlights. She was last seen wearing a black sweater and jeans.

The motive of the kidnapping is still unclear, the sheriff's office said. One of Valdez's family members told KTRK-TV that Fajardo is her ex-boyfriend.

Anyone with information on the case has been asked to call the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500 or the Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392- STOP (7867).
