FORT JENNINGS, Ohio (WTVG) - The body of 5-year-old Isaac Schroeder was found on Thursday following a massive search that brought out about 900 volunteers.

The news of the discovery was confirmed by a Fort Jennings fire department official who said the boy's body was found by crews searching the Auglaize River near his home. Additional information on his death was not readily available.

Isaac Schroeder disappeared from his home on Wednesday afternoon. According to Putnam County Sheriff Captain Brad Brubaker, Schroeder's mother called 911 at 3:09 p.m. when she realized he was missing. Brubaker told 13abc that there had been no previous reports of Isaac leaving his home.

On Wednesday afternoon, various agencies from Fort Jennings, Kalida, and Ottoville were searching an area of approximately one mile around the residence. Life Flight and a Putnam County Sheriff's Office drone were also brought in to assist the efforts.

At 7 a.m., volunteers were asked to assemble at Fort Jennings Park to search for Schroeder. Brubaker said around 300 people from all over the area arrived for the search and that number ballooned to nearly a thousand volunteers by the evening.
