Douglas County Search and Rescue has suspended its search for two victims of an accident reported on Thursday.

Sergeant Brad O’Dell said crews had resumed their search Friday in the Thunder Mountain area, southeast of Glide. That morning a citizen called 911 and said they had overheard a distress call on CB radio channel 17 from a man who reported that had and his wife had been involved in a vehicle crash on Thunder Mountain and were in need of medical help. The caller told dispatchers he was near Tyee when he heard the transmission.

O;Dell said a through search of the area has been conducted and has not revealed any sign of a vehicle crash. The search included help from an airplane provided by the Douglas Forest Protective Association in addition to efforts on the ground.

O’Dell said with the limited information available, searchers have exhausted their efforts. DCSO has not been notified of any missing or overdue people, in connect with this incident. If additional information becomes available, it will be investigated. DCSO is asking those recreating in the area to keep their eyes open and report any information to the Sheriff’s Office at 440-4471.
