STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police continue to search for a man wanted for allegedly killing two people in Connecticut.
Troopers consider him armed and dangerous. The state police helicopter took to the air while others searched on land for 23-year -old Peter Manfredonia.
The search for Manfredonia started on Sunday after a car he was driving was found at the New Jersey-Pennsylvania border.
Manfredonia is wanted by the Connecticut State Police in connection to a deadly assault in Willington, Connecticut, and a homicide in Derby, Connecticut.
Manfredonia, a University of Connecticut senior, is suspected of killing Ted DeMers, 62, and Nicholas Eisele, 23, before forcing Eisele’s girlfriend into her car and fleeing the state with her. The woman, 23, was located Sunday at a rest stop near Paterson, New Jersey, with her 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, police said, and was not hurt.
Early Monday night, the family attorney for the Manfredonia family expressed condolences to the victim's families, talked about Peter's mental health issues, and pleaded for Peter Manfredonia to turn himself in.
"Peter if you're listening, you are loved, your parents, your sisters, your entire family loves you," said Manfredonia family attorney Michael Dolan.
"Nobody wants any harm to come to you, it is time to let the healing process begin, time to surrender."
Pennsylvania State Police got involved after Manfredonia got an Uber and asked the driver to take him to Allentown, but he jumped out of the car. Investigators believe he's still in the East Stroudburg area.
State police put out a picture of him wearing a white shirt, dark shorts and carrying a large duffle bag. They stress that Peter Manfredonia is armed and dangerous.
