Fishermen reported through the ice in Torrington - New Haven Register

UPDATE 12:45 p.m. — All of the people reported through the ice have been pulled out of the water, according to dispatchers.

TORRINGTON — First responders are working to rescue at least four people who went through the ice while fishing at Burr Pond State Park Sunday morning.

Dispatchers at the town fire department said two people have been pulled out of the water, and rescuers are currently working to recover the other two.

Emergency personnel were called to 385 Burr Mountain Road at 11:13 a.m.

Two LifeStar helicopters were sent to transport patients, but staff at the LifeStar center did not say where the patients were taken. Each helicopter can transport one patient.

Fire crews from Winsted and Torrington were both called to the scene, dispatch said.

A volunteer crew was called in from Harwinton to provide mutual aide, according to dispatch reports.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
