Missing man's body found in Lake Lanier - Atlanta Journal Constitution

The body of a man was found in Lake Lanier Saturday nearly two weeks after his family reported him missing, officials said.

Brian Dwayne Ferguson, 33, of Gainesville, was pulled from the water at the end of Fishermans Cove off Price Road about 4:15 p.m., Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said on Sunday.

The sheriff’s office had been investigating Ferguson’s disappearance since a family member reported him missing on Feb. 9, Booth said. On the same day, deputies learned that Ferguson’s truck had been abandoned in the area of Barkers Bend Drive and Yellow Creek Road, he said.

Investigators initially thought it had been there since Feb. 8, but evidence showed it might have been there since Feb. 2.

Family members said they had last spoken with Ferguson more than a week prior on Feb. 1. About 4 a.m., he said he needed to go “clear his head,” Booth said.

Ferguson’s body was sent to a medical examiner for an autopsy. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of his death.
