Popular Louisiana fried chicken chain, Krispy Krunchy Chicken, has opened a storefront in Fisherman’s Wharf, its second in San Francisco.
Krispy Krunchy Chicken is known for dishing up breaded, fried chicken prepared with Cajun spices. The new location can be found at 2660 Mason St., just a stone’s throw from Pier 39.

Last year, the chain opened its first S.F. store in the Tenderloin at 393 Eddy St. Thrillist SF dubbed it, “America’s best fried chicken chain.”
“The 28-year-old company might not be as recognizable as Popeyes, but make no mistake: Its poultry can hold its own against the industry standard-bearer,” Thrillist wrote of Krispy Krunchy Chicken in 2019.
The restaurant also sells chicken sandwiches and Buffalo wings, but if you’d rather opt for seafood, the store also offers Cajun-style fish and fried shrimp, available with a side of waffle fries and a buttermilk biscuit.

The Krispy Krunch Chicken chain was founded in 1989 and was first sold out of one of the founder’s convenience stores in Lafayette, La. That was also the case when it debuted in San Francisco. The Gas & Shop convenience store at 599 S. Van Ness Ave. and Super Save Market at 4517 3rd St. continue to serve the Cajun-infused chicken.
